TOP 10 REASONS FOR PAPER BALLOTS ON EVOTING MACHINES

1. EVOTING MACHINES ARE NOT RELIABLE.
2. EVOTING MACHINES NOT VIRUS/HACKER PROOF.
3. PROGRAMMING 'SOURCE CODE' IS SECRET.
4. VOTES CAST RUN RISK OF NOT BEING COUNTED.
5. THE VOTE IN DATA CARTRIDGE IS 'CERTIFIED' BY ITA'S.
6. THE MACHINES ARE PROGRAMMED BY THE VENDORS.
7. 'SMART CARDS' ALLOW MULTIPLE VOTES.
8. MEMORY ON VOTING MACHINES TOO SMALL.
9. MACHINE CALIBRATION 'IFFY' AT BEST.
10. MACHINES LOSE ELECTION DATA.

SUMMATION: Electronic voting machines have been touted to be easy to use, giving quick election results with no mechanical breakdowns. This is simply not the case. These electronic voting machines have proven to incorrectly tally votes, cost counties more money, take longer to complete elections and cost states millions in recounts (when they can perform one). These are just some of the many reasons why having a paper ballot is a necessity. It is imperative that these machines be equipped with paper ballot (vvpb) audit capacity to insure that every vote cast on them is in fact cast, counted and can be recounted if necessary. Paper ballots/receipts on these unreliable machines will not fix this broken system, however at the very least an audit of the election can be performed to see if the receipts match the machine totals.

this summary of the reasons is really well explained in the link. it is a good basis to convince the mass of Americans who love their system so much that they are wilfully blind to its faults

Why do you think Americans are so blind to the faults of their system ?

Good question. I would say that the reason is that Americans know their political system is the best, just as they know that their health system is the best (although WHO (Worlf Health Organization) rates it as 37th

Americans are stupid. I know, I am one. Seems like we are so brainless about our democracy until we get screwed by someone. Then we understand what we had missed, namely that crooks don't want to play in a fair fight. So they cheat.

Tell everyone about RFK's article in Rolling Stone!

Public oversight is the indispensable quality of a democracy that is dispensed with regarding all electronic voting technologies from optical scan to touch screen. THE FIRST COUNT is the only one that matters 99% of the time, we can't bet our entire democracy on recounts and audits that are expensive, dicey, technical, and rarely respected in disputed elections when it really matters....

We need to get rid of electronics in voting all together. Everything should be paper. We dont do this stuff every day so why not? I am sure there would be no shortage of volunteers to sit at tables with multiple cameras on them and COUNT freakin pieces of paper. Between that and getting rid of the electoral college, we might be able to restore faith in our republic. Oh yea. Quit calling it a democracy. Its a republic.
